On Thursday, June 18th at approximately 2:06 p.m. a suspect entered a bank near 75th Avenue and Cactus Road. The suspect took out a handgun and a black drawstring bag from his waistband and demanded money from the teller at the service counter. Once the suspect got the money, he left the store on foot and was last seen headed east. The armed robbery suspect is described as a light skinned Black male, 30-40 years of age, 5’10 with an athletic build, short dark hair, and blue or green eyes. The suspect was wearing dark colored shoes, black pants, a black short-sleeved tee shirt, and a black baseball cap. During the course of this investigation, it was determined that the same suspect appears to have been involved in an earlier armed robbery that occurred at a hotel in Tempe. This incident occurred on June 18, 2015 at 10:54 a.m. Surveillance photos and videos from the Tempe incident have been attached to this release. Detectives from both Peoria and Tempe Police Department, along with members of the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force are working together on this investigation.
