On Saturday, May 28th, 2022 prior to 1:00 am, a fatal vehicle collision occurred on University Drive just east of 54th Street, Mesa, Arizona, between a pedestrian and an unknown dark colored vehicle. The pedestrian had been walking near the north curb when he was struck by an unknown westbound vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and is still outstanding. The vehicle is believed to have damage to the passenger side, possibly to the bumper area, hood, quarter panels, pillars, doors, door frame and/or exterior mirror (numerous paint chips found on scene). There was also evidence of possibly the windshield and/or windows being damaged. MCSO is asking for your help in gathering information about this collision. Further investigation has revealed the paint chips found at the scene appear to match a Chrysler paint color named “Maximum Steel”. The following vehicles were manufactured from 2012 to 2022 with this same paint color: Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Journey, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Dodge Dart, Dodge Durango, Dodge Grand Caravan, Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler Pacifica, Ram Truck and Chrysler Town and Country. |
